NORTHMINSTER PEOPLE IN ACTION

                      QUILTERS GUILD

The Quilting Guild started out in the home of Gladys Rae many years ago. In 1989 it moved to the Northminster Church where we meet every Tuesday. Our group consists of 6 dedicated members.
We have quilted well over 100 quilts since 1989, some baby ones, some large ones and even a wall hanging. We have quilted for local people as well as some from out of town. Some quilts have been entered into local fairs and won prizes for their owners.
The group is always looking for new quilters, so if you are a quilter, please think about joining the group. If you need a quilt quilted, or would like to purchase a baby quilt, drop in to see us at the church.

                      VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL.

Vacation Bible School for ages 5 to 12 was held betwee Monday July 14 to Thursday July 17. A number of children attended and were treated to learning sessions that were interesting and fun.

                      BAPTISM

Emily Jane Carol Buchan was baptized on Sunday May 25,2008. Daughter of Margaret and Michael Buchan was born on March 28, 2008. Older brother Andrew helped Rev. Sandra Farrow pour the water into the baptismal fount.

                      YARD SALE.

A huge Yard Sale was held on May 24th. It was well attended, income was over $2000, and this will be put toward the church roof project. A big thank you to all those who helped make this such a big success, and also to those who came to buy.
Watch for new projects in the future to help pay for our roof.

                      100-MILE POT-LUCK SUPPER.

On Saturday, April 19, we held a distinctly different pot luck supper. Everyone brought a dish to feed their family plus one, however the challange was to bring something made from locally grown ingredients only (or could be grown when in season).       Marlene Werry, Board member of Durham Farm Fresh and member of the Durham Region Economic Development Team, spoke after the dinner, and answered many questions. The evening was a big success
